PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy has been defined as the assessment, diagnosis, and
treatment of disease and disability
through physical means. With our training and background,
we become experts in human movement and
function. We also develop our skills in specific areas
based on the continuing education that we take.
Evaluation and Treatment by a
licensed physical therapist |
|
|
Our evaluations consist of taking a
thorough history and performing a detailed evaluation based on your
specific situation. We take our time with you, listen to your situation,
and help you reach your goals. Continuity of
care is very
important to us. You will work together with the same therapist at each
visit.
Our treatments involve a combination of skilled hands on techniques and
precise exercise programs. The following is a list of some of the types
of
treatments to expect: |
Manual therapy techniques

spasm, or improve mobility. This might include joint mobilization,
myofascial release, friction massage, traction, or stretching.
Therapeutic

We utilize a combination of exercise techniques specific to your
individual situation. We develop many muscle imbalances starting from an
early age based on our posture, activities, and movement patterns. Our
skill is to identify these problems for you and give you exercises to
correct them. We also work on core strengthening programs that
incorporate the deep muscles of the abdomen, back and pelvic floor. We
progress you towards independence with a home program.
Gait analysis
~
is an important part of our specialty and can identify many longstanding
orthopedic problems or help to regain normal walking mechanics after
surgery.
Balance
~
is a crucial component in recovering from an injury that is often
overlooked. We can set you up with balance exercises for your specific
problem as well as help those who have balance problems and reduce the
risk of falling.
Functional training
~
Function is a complex combination of systems working and reacting
together as a whole to perform a specific movement. We can break this
down into the various components that will help you in all types of
activities.
Sport specific
training
~
looks specifically at your sport activity and analyzes your technique
giving valuable input that helps you return to your sport. The mechanics
involved can vary and we can help whether it is running, cycling,
swimming, tennis, golf, soccer or baseball.
Modalities
~
We utilize special equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation,
iontophoresis, and traction. This can aid in the healing process by
